Avoid thinking people can read your thoughts. Clearly communicate expectations if you want tasks to be carried out correctly. Maintain and open-door policy. If they don't understand the instructions you give, they don't need to hesitate about coming to you for help.

And, the impact that they can have on morale - and by extension, productivity - can be dramatic.
Don't engage in underhanded behavior. Follow through with all of the promises you make to be trusted as a leader. If you claim to provide the best service in your particular business category, make sure all your employees understand how to provide the best service.
Always come prepared when you're speaking to people on your team. Consider any questions they might have. Think of answers for the questions. Your team is going to have more respect for you if you know the answers to their questions. It'll also be a major time saver over the course of the meeting.
Take some time at the end of the day to analyze how the team is working together. You might solicit others who are willing to help with your analysis. In addition to developing friendships, necessary changes to the plan can be made after listening to suggestions from team members.
Never stop adding new leadership skills to your repertoire. If you really want to become a better leader, join workshops or take classes. There's always a lot to learn, as there's always new research and techniques coming to light. Be certain to stay relevant and current.
